Storm

Storm is a handsome 4-year-old solid gray shorthair with sleek, velvety fur that’s the color of Baguio’s evening clouds. This distinguished gentleman has bright yellow-green eyes that seem to hold ancient wisdom, and a perfectly pink nose that twitches curiously at every new scent. He was brought to the shelter when his elderly owner could no longer care for him, and while he was initially heartbroken, Storm has shown incredible resilience and grace.

Coco

Found abandoned as a puppy near Burnham Park, Coco has grown into a playful and intelligent dog who loves learning new tricks for treats. She’s great with other dogs and has a gentle mouth when taking food.

Bayani

Bayani loves morning walks in the cool mountain air and is excellent with children. He knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. This brave boy is looking for an active family who can give him the adventures he craves while keeping him warm during Baguio’s chilly evenings.

Luna

Luna gets along well with other cats and would do wonderfully in a quiet home where she can receive plenty of love and attention. She’s fully vaccinated, spayed, and litter-trained. This sweet girl is looking for a forever family who will appreciate her gentle nature and give her the warm, loving home she deserves in the cool mountain climate of Baguio

In celebration of National Heritage Month this May, the City of Baguio proudly re-launches “Dugad Mi” an inspiring multimedia exhibit crafted by the city’s youth, capturing the soul and identity of their communities. “Dugad Mi,” meaning “Our Place” in Ibaloy, serves as a profound expression of the young generation’s connection to their heritage and aspirations for the future.National Heritage Month, declared under Presidential Decree No. 439, emphasizes the importance of fostering consciousness, respect, and love for Filipino cultural history. In 2025, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) set the theme “Preserving Legacies, Building Futures: Empowering Communities through Heritage,” underscoring the role of heritage in empowering future generations.Answering this call, Baguio City’s Cultural Mapping Project initiated by the City Planning, Development, and Sustainability Office documented 327 natural and cultural heritage resources, including significant personalities in the city’s history. Building on this foundation, the “Dugad Mi” project empowered Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders from 25 barangays through modular training sessions that explored the meaning of “place,” local histories, and the critical role of heritage conservation.Through creative visual arts exercises, participants reconnected with their communities, translating memories, stories, and identities into powerful exhibits. Their works reveal how history, values, and traditions shape meaningful places transforming empty spaces into vibrant, living communities.Originally launched during last year’s Ibagiw Festival, “Dugad Mi” is a collaborative effort of the City Planning, Development and Sustainability Office and the Baguio City Creative Council. It represents a strategic planning initiative that blends heritage conservation with creative placemaking, offering a framework that supports Baguio’s identity as a UNESCO Creative City.Rosella Camte-Bahni, from the City Planning, Development and Sustainability Office, emphasized the lasting impact of the project: “Our young people, having traced their roots through this project, now see their communities with new eyes filled with pride, meaning, and responsibility. BAGUIO CITY – The public is invited to view remnants and other articles of interest from World War II, at the Heroes Hall, USAFIP-NL building, Veterans Compound, Camp Allen from June 15 to June 29, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, daily. Organized by the descendants of WW II veterans of the 66th infantry regiment, the exhibit dubbed “We Remained,” is actively supported by the city government and done in partnership with the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, University of the Philippines Baguio. The activity is a salute to the United States of America Forces in the Philippines – North Luzon and the US 6th army group and dedicated to the freedom fighters of Northern Luzon for the 80th year liberation of Bessang Pass and USAFIP-NL day. For the opening rites on June 15, a wreath-laying and candle lighting was done with the presence of guest of honor and speaker Congressman-elect Mauricio G. Domogan, and Executive Assistant to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Engr. Leandro Tabilog; Board of Trustees, other officials and participants, and descendants of veterans. People in possession of other WWII artifacts are however encouraged to loan said items to the Sons and Daughters of Veterans Association (SDAI) USAFIP-NL for the duration of the exhibit. 𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗢𝗡 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗚𝗢𝗔𝗟

Members of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) gathered for a Building Leadership Workshop on June 11, 2025 to review Baguio’s roadmap on its “Making Cities Resilient” (MCR) goals by 2026. Baguio City’s aim to become a resilient city by 2026 is anchored on the need to prepare for the inevitable and grim effects of climate change ahead of the MCR 2030 target by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Engr. Charles Bryan Carame, local disaster risk reduction management office IV of the CDRRMO said in line with this, the city government partnered with the National Resilience Council – a private institution providing technical assistance and capacity building to local government units in achieving resilience targets. The workshop sought to strengthen institutional capacities for disaster and climate resilience utilizing the Building Leadership approach to promote collaboration and shared accountability across sectors; align local development priorities; contextualize Adapt Phase based on local realities and draft a baseline assessment and work plan to support the city’s resilience-building initiatives. The workshop also documented best practices on resilience-building initiatives; identifying challenges and extracting lessons learned in advancing toward MCR 2026 goals. Identified priorities include: establish multi-stakeholder platform for resilience; enhance the climate and disaster risk and vulnerability assessment and mapping both city and barangay level; and, improve resilience governance and planning, including the establishment of a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Information System (database) and Dashboarding. Ensuring business continuity amidst any disaster or disruptive events was also listed a resilience priority along with the mainstreaming of gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) in local DRRM plans, policies and initiatives.
