About Urdaneta

Urdaneta City is a vibrant first-class city in the province of Pangasinan. Strategically located in Northern Luzon, it serves as a key trading center and transportation hub.

Known for having the largest public market in Northern Luzon, Urdaneta is a bustling mix of urban progress and countryside charm. Whether you’re visiting for business, leisure, or culture, Urdaneta welcomes you with open arms.

History of Urdaneta

Urdaneta City was founded on January 8, 1858, and was named after Fray Andrés de Urdaneta, a Spanish friar and navigator. Originally part of the town of Binalonan, it became an independent town as settlers sought better farming opportunities.

Over time, Urdaneta grew into a vital trade and agricultural hub in Pangasinan. Thanks to its central location, strong community, and growing economy, it was officially converted into a component city on March 21, 1998.

Today, Urdaneta is known as the “Gateway to Northern Luzon,” balancing modern development with deep cultural and historical roots.
